The entire time I was reading I was comparing the two and seeing how part of parasitte game was taken out of the book. Whether it is novels or movies, the Japanese are leading the pack in innovative horror. It’s almost as if she doesn’t want the transplant, but why would that be? The story, while incredibly intriguing and gripping, does fall short at moments due to both pacing and some things being lost in translation.

When I first began reading this book, I found the first half rather slow-moving.
Japanese pharmacologist Sena’s biochemical horror novel, which won the first Japan Horror Novel Award, has lost something in translation. The book is very Japanese.

Also, it upset me that the things that happened to Mariko were presented as more horrifying for her father, who witnessed some of it, than for Mariko herself. Her heart thrilled to mitochondria.
