Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie

First off, they are real. A really good spin off novel following an other character which I loved a lot. I liked it so much I bought more copies and gave them away for Christmas gifts. She knows how to haunt you with a motif. This book if from James’ perspective and takes off on a different but related direction th I think that the more I read by Maggie Stiefvater the more I love her books. But Ballad still contains her lyric prose, and stiefvtaer yet, a truly unique narrative voice.

I wasn’t sure what my heart wanted till there’s did. Another one of Maggie’s novels And Shiver is beautifully maggi as well, but it’s a different kind of beauty, etiefvater I the only one that feels this way?

Ballad picks up a few months after Dee and James barely survive their first harrowing experiences with the world of Faerie. The story was interesting, and I liked the idea of the faeries being dangerous, cunning and feeding off humans.

His narrative counterpart, Nuala, also comes into focus as the story develops, and even though she starts out as a nemesis, the reader learns her weaknesses and becomes sympathetic towards her too. So go ahead and click on the cover and buy yourself a copy. Nuala can definitely dish it right back to him. Every aspect of his personality was so endearing to me – the bag pipe playing, the smart alek one liners, the obsessive writing on his hand compulsion, his humorous t-shirts, etc.

When I read a maggke I put myself entirely into it. Both main characters change because of the encounter. She gives you a complete story. To see what your friends thought of this book, please sign up.

With all that being said, Ballad exceeded my already high expectations by leaps and bounds. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you ballxd to read. His witty retorts, his one line smart ass comments, his idiotic t-shirts Post was not sent – check your email addresses!

Maggie Stiefvater knows how to string together a sentence. But his character was so much more complex than that. Of course, that might not be his only problem, since the faeries aren’t overly found of Deirdre. I was balald surprised when Ballad broke away from Dee’s narration and was told in the point of view of James. I was not disappointed.

As Nuala got to know James, I liked her more and more, even though she was a threat to James in one way or another. Want to Read Currently Sriefvater Read. But Nuala, as she calls herself, never counted on actually falling in love with one of her intended victims as she does with James, and this creates an unprecedented situation and confrontation between humans and Fey.

About rhapsodyinbooks We’re into reading, politics, and intellectual exchanges. And I loved Ballad even more. Wish there was more to the series! That really bothers me. I am quite overwelmed by how much I liked Ballad, since after reading Lament I expected a sequel that would also barely make it into the “It-was-enjoyable-but-didn’t-touch-me” category.

Twists and turns that I never saw coming. The books had a very lyrical feel all the way through them – but I do ask, what are 16 year olds doing playing the harp and bagpipes?

This book differs from Lament’s fast pace and immediate draw; instead, the development of James and Nuala as characters, as well as James’ mentor and friends, grows at a steady but sure pace. Will Dee always stlefvater the most powerful cloverhand? After a certain amount of years, she must burn alive, to be reborn without her memories.

First thing that struck me with this story was “why are they at that school? Stisfvater was interested in Dee and, to a lesser degree, James, and Nuala, not at all. I got sucked balllad this story really wanting to find out what happens.

Ballad (Books of Faerie, book 2) by Maggie Stiefvater

James’s biggest worry is the ballaf are coming for Dee and for Nuala, and for two different reasons. It’s addictive, it almost has it’s own melody, the chorus from a song that gets stuck in your head.

Never having that full year to miss there voices. The previous one, this one and other stories not related to Maggie. At this point I feel like I’m holding my breath with the anticipation of hearing if there will be more books in this series!! Want to Read saving…. Along comes Nuala, attracted by James’s talent with the bagpipes.

I am sorry, Jessi, for stowing Ballad away on my keepers shelf after having set up your hope. Rhapsody in Books Weblog.
